Teens Accelerate in Toyota Video Contest

Juniors Grant Webster, Ethan Webster, Ben Wilson, Walker Hershey and Charles Fries, a Jesuit friend, recently created a video on safe teen driving and entered it into the Toyota Teen Driver Short Film Competition, placing in the top ten of the contest. Waiting for the online vote to be tallied is all the boys can do now.
“We feel pretty proud about our final result, but a lot of the other finalists were good as well,” junior Grant Webster said. “It is anyone’s game.”
Toyota created this contest to spread safe driving habits to teenagers. First prize for the contest is $15,000 and the unique opportunity for a professional film crew to reshoot the video and distribute it to a much wider audience.
“I think Toyota had a great idea to get young people to watch videos with statistics and slogans about safe driving,” Webster said. “I’m glad we got to be a part of it.
The results will be revealed sometime next week, so buckle your seatbelts, and get ready for a wild ride. It should be close.
“I’m so thankful to everyone who voted for our video; it really was a team effort,” Webster said. “Even if our video doesn’t get voted to the top, at least we helped make the road a safer place.”
