VARSITY BECOME CHAMPS FOR SECOND YEAR

The varsity womens soccer team went into this season with high expectations; however, there were some doubts, which stemmed from the loss of several star seniors and a squad plagued by injuries.
These fears were quickly put to rest, as the team continuously found victory as the season progressed.
El Camino finally scraped by with a win late in the season, destroying the no-loss record. After the loss, the team regrouped, refocused, and prepared for an all-or-bust run at championships.
“It was a good reality check. Coach Jen said it humbled us, and she’s right,” senior Michaels Milesi said. “We knew we were better than that, but had to prove it.”
Rallying from the El Camino loss and finding self-motivation due to the loss of their coach, who was having her baby, the team went on to never lose again.
“We were expecting to win all three games, but not necessarily by that much,” said senior Kira Merrick. “The other teams practically gave up by the second half in all 3 games.”
The girls went on to win Section Championships against Antelope 3 to 0. They became Section Champions for the second year in a row despite the year’s difficulties.
