Senior Michael Wang has been selected as lead trombonist in this year’s Grammy’s High School Jazz Ensemble. Students from all over the country applied to participate in this highly competitive band. Wang has basically been identified as the top high school jazz trombonist in the nation. He will travel to Los Angeles with the rest of the ensemble in February for ten days, and will rehearse and perform with Grammy-nominated artists and record a CD. In previous years, this prestigious ensemble has performed with artists such as Esperanza Spalding, Maroon 5, and Keith Urban, along with many others. Wang is a member of Rio’s AM Jazz Ensemble and has participated in band at Rio since his freshman year.
