The forums are loosely moderated by RioMirada staff.
There can be many article comments and forum posts per
day. However we may try we cannot possibly read them
all, so we rely on members to report problem posts that
they encounter.
The point of moderation is not to limit discussion,
promote or suppress points of view, or any other secret
agenda. We encourage discussion among all members and
has on occasions led to some good news story ideas for
us. The goal of moderation is to keep the forums
enjoyable and free from problems that detract from the
experiences of our users.
General Rules
Be Polite
We take the "Be Polite" rule very seriously. We do
not tolerate any rudeness. Any member who is
intentionally unpleasant or disruptive may be banned
without warning. Our decision is final in these matters.
Keep on Topic
Replies to post should be limited to the
topic of the original posting.
If you want to change the topic
start a new one.
No SPAM
Do Not post any form of advertisement!!! If you SPAM our
members in any manner, your account will be disabled. Do
not contact anyone to suggest your product or service!!
If you wish to advertise here you can contact our sales
department.
Masking Words
Do Not mask profanity with ** or other symbols to
bypass our filters.
Bumping
You may not bump threads. Bumping can refer to
posting useless information, posting one-liners or any
other action to deliberately keep a thread hot or to
bring it to the top of its forum.
Instantly Bannable
Insults
Direct personal insult of another member, i.e., "You
are an idiot." and all the variations. Why? Because this
isn't grade school. People should be able to discuss or
even dispute other's posts without insulting people. And
the only purpose of a post like this is to incite other
people. "Argue the opinion not the person"
Spam and over posting
Not just being a prolific poster, but posting the
same exact post many times, posting multiple pointless
posts in the same thread, making numerous posts with no
real content, or posting for the purpose of gaining a
higher post count. This will get you banned.
Harassment
Purposely intimidating a particular member, harassing
them, sending them rude or threatening private messages,
etc. This includes personal attacks on moderators for
doing their jobs.
Registration rules
Having more than one account per person or violation
of the rules you agreed to when registering for the
site: that you will not post any messages that are
obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful,
threatening, or otherwise violate of any laws or any
other violation of the "terms and conditions"
