About the school:
Rio Americano High School, colloquially known as Rio, is
a public high school in Sacramento, California, serving
students in grades 9 through 12 as part of the San Juan
Unified School District. As of 2009, the new principal
is Brian T. Ginter, who succeeds the now-retired Rob
Hollingsworth. Rio has consistently maintained one of
the highest API scores in the state. In 2008, Newsweek
ranked Rio as number 595 on their list of the top 1,300
public schools in the United States, effectively placing
it in the top 3% of high schools nationwide.
